Who We Are
A new congregation rooted in historic Christian faith, gathering to worship and serve in Radford, Virginia.
Our Story
Redeemer Radford began as a small group of families with a shared desire to see a new Reformed congregation planted in the heart of our city. We currently meet as a second service of Redeemer ARP Church in Christiansburg, VA, under the oversight of their session. Our vision is to grow into a church plant of the Virginia Presbytery and, in God's providence, to be established as a particular ARP church in Radford.
Our conviction is that the sovereign grace of God — His free, undeserved mercy in saving sinners through Christ — is the most glorious news in the world, and it deserves to be proclaimed with clarity and joy. We take Scripture seriously and God's Word is integral to every part of our worship. We warmly welcome everyone to come worship our God together with us on the Lord's Day each week.
We are a member congregation of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, formed in 1782 — one of the oldest Presbyterian denominations in America. The ARP traces its ancestry to the Scottish Covenanters: those 17th-century believers who signed the National Covenant and the Solemn League and Covenant, pledging to defend biblical worship and the crown rights of Jesus Christ as King of the church against royal tyranny. Hunted across the Scottish moors and hills, they held illegal outdoor worship gatherings called conventicles — risking imprisonment and death rather than surrender the purity of the gospel.
The descendants of those Covenanters brought their convictions to the American colonies, and their theological heirs eventually merged in 1782 to form the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. That same stream of Reformed faith flows through Redeemer ARP in Christiansburg — and now into Radford.
Though we are a new work, we rest on ancient foundations, and we would love for you to join us as we grow.
What We Believe
We stand in the Reformed tradition, holding to the historic creeds of the Christian church and the Westminster Standards.
Scripture Alone
We hold the Bible to be the inerrant, infallible Word of God — our only rule of faith and practice. Every sermon, every song, every decision flows from and is accountable to Scripture.
Sovereign Grace
We believe God is sovereign over all things, including salvation. He saves sinners by His free grace through faith in Christ alone — not by human merit or decision, but by His powerful, renewing Spirit.
God-Centered Worship
Our worship is ordered by Scripture — we sing hymns and psalms, hear the Word preached, confess our sins, and receive assurance of forgiveness. God is the audience; everything is directed to Him.
Westminster Standards
As our doctrinal standard, we hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms — a faithful summary of biblical teaching shared with the broader Reformed tradition.
Presbyterian Polity
We are governed by a team of elders (presbyters) rather than a single pastor, ensuring accountability, mutual care, and shared wisdom. We are part of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. You can read our governing documents on the ARP website.
Family-Integrated Worship
We believe families should worship together. Parents and children sit side by side in the service — strengthening the spiritual bond between generations and building up the whole household in faith.
